Crowds

I hate crowds. When you are in a crowd you lose your individuality. If somebody sees you and somehow notices you, they think, "Oh, just another person. Just another person who doesn't matter." I hate people thinking that my life is not worth living. Call it vanity, but I need to matter! I need to do something with my life! I need to be somebody!!! I need to matter!!!

  1. You matter when you matter to yourself.
What is vanity but a need to matter.
Crowds are people obsessed with their own need to matter, and their own problems coping with day to day problems, too busy to notice an individual zig zag skating in large circles around them.

  2. That is a very good point and not meaningless. Perhaps the people in the crowd are thinking of something else, it is a form of vanity but a true one. All humans like to matter, but you shouldn't meditate on that thought too much, you are an individual, they are an individual, how are they supposed to see what you see about yourself? They don't know you, you can't blame them. How do you know that some cute guy isn't thinking of you, or a mother is concerned to see you without your parents or something?
